My contribution to the exhibition entitled 'Identity' comprises of three black and white
photographs, primarily based on the exploration of form, texture and tone. Together, the
photographs intend to intrigue the viewer in terms of the objects used and the way that one
is able to closely at them.
As an artist, I like to create objects that, for me, possess beautiful and detailed
characteristics. I am also very interested in making these objects in large quantities,
not only for visual purposes, but also because I find comfort in this process. Although
I follow a set procedure when making my objects, I feel that it is important for me to
allow each one to develop its own formal qualities.
Having made my objects, I am keen to arrange them, often in a very temporary manner. Then,
I like to look closely at the interesting forms, textures and tones that have been created
and, using black and white photography, I aim to capture small moments in time before the
work is dismantled.
Ultimately, I endeavour to produce work where the viewer is able to experience personal ideas,
thoughts and feelings based on what they have seen.
