Artspace is a group of local practising artists in the Charnwood Borough of Leicestershire, England.
Artspace Membership policy

We invite membership from practising artists who work at what we define as graduate level in the Charnwood area. Many of our members are graduates of Loughborough University School of Art and Design. We hold frequent evening meetings to discuss business and meet at other times to talk about our work. We expect members to take a full share in the running of the group and of our exhibitions.

  • We ask everyone applying to join Artspace to supply us, in the first instance, with a copy of their CV and some images of recent work. Please send to any Artspace committee member, or to the following address;

    Mary Byrne
    45 Cambridge Strret
    Loughborough
    LE11 1NL

  • At the next committee meeting (or by e-mail if this meeting is some time ahead) the committee will decide whether to invite the candidate to become a temporary associate member for three months. In this capacity the candidate may attend meetings, assist with exhibitions and join in other activities of Artspace, except for exhibiting at major exhibitions. This three month period will allow the candidate to get to know the group and to be known by the members.

  • At the third meeting the prospective member will be asked to give a short talk to introduce their work and ideas for general discussion. The members will then decide by simple majority whether to invite the candidate to become a full member of Artspace.

Note
Recent fine art graduates can have free membership of ArtSpace for 1 year.

Artspace was started in 1997 and is a small group of artists run by volunteers from within the group. Its main purpose is to support and promote the work of local artists by putting on a large annual exhibition in Loughborough and smaller exhibitions in the area. We aim to encourage the general public to develop an interest in contemporary art and to participate in arts based activities.
