‘Beyond Words’, SOCK Gallery, Loughborough, 16th May
Our new exhibition, Beyond Words, will be opening at the Sock Gallery, Loughborough Town Hall, on Friday 15th May. The exhibition will run until 27th June, Monday through Saturday, 9am – 5pm; closed Sunday. You are welcome to meet the artists at the Sock Gallery on Saturday 16th May between 1pm and 3pm.

Artspace success in Leicester and Rutland opens
Congratulations to Jo Sheppard and both her children for getting into the Leicester open at the Newarke House Museum Jo Sheppard, Sally Reayer and Susan West have been successful in getting their work accepted in The Rutland Open

Curve Gallery Leicester, 21 Jul – 6 Sep 2014

Patsy gains recognition in the Derwent Art Prize
Artspace member Patsy Whiting has recently had a lot to celebrate. She was recently awarded not one but two prizes in the national Derwent Art Prize. Patsy won both the Third Prize and the UK Coloured Pencil Society Award for Excellence with her coloured pencil drawing with the curious title of ‘Garden garage marriage’. Well…

Somewhat Abstract, Nottingham Contemporary
I recently visited the “Somewhat Abstract” at the Nottingham Contemporary. There was the usual mix of interesting and strange pieces. I particularly Liked Bridget Rileys work, an oil and pencil sketch by Barbara Hepworth and a table inlaid with a pair of contorted hands, representing colonial oppression.
