I have lived in all sorts of exotic sounding places following my husbands job. Wherever I was I would attempt to learn some new kind of medium in a bid to fulfil my need to create. It was when I was living in Dubai that I fell in love with acrylic abstract work. Acrylic lends itself beautifully to abstract as you have to work quickly and instinctively but there have to be some coffee stops to let the work dry properly. This gives time to walk away and come back to it and make sure the composition is balanced before adding the next layer. Some of the work is pre-planned and mathematically worked out but quite a lot of it is just instinctive marking. My heroes are Clyfford Still and Barnett Newman (both American Expressionists). I am now back and settled in Leicestershire and enjoying being here in my birthplace.
