Loughborough ArtSpace is a group of visual artists -
painters, printmakers, sculptors, photographers, mixed media and digital
artists - who work in the Loughborough area of Leicestershire. It has
been successfully making art available to an international public since
its inception in 1997.
"Ophelia", a nude portrait drawing by ArtSpace artist Patsy Whiting was chosen for the National Open Art Competition Exhibition in Chichester earlier this year and for further exhibition in the Watercolours + Works on Paper Fair at the Science Museum in London.
Susan West has reached the shortlist of the top 100 art works in the LONDON LIVES competition organised by the Guardian newspaper and the Bankside Gallery in London. Her work, Between St Paul's, will be exhibited in the Bankside Gallery, next door to the Tate Modern, from 9th until 19th September 2010
Patricia Whiting, a relatively new member of ArtSpace, has had her crayon drawing, "Moonlight" accepted by the Society of Women Artists (SWA) for their 148th annual Open exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London (23 April - 2 May 2009). In this exhibition the SWA will "showcase a stunning collection of contemporary artwork by leading professional women artists alongside talented non-members. About 500 works of art in all media, including sculpture, will be shown."

'ARTSPACE ART FAIR'
Loughborough artists’ group ArtSpace is holding an Art Fair at Woodhouse Eaves Village Hall Annexe (Main Street, Woodhouse Eaves) on Saturday and Sunday 15th and 16th November 10am-4pm. You can buy an original, unique work of art by a professional artist at a price you can afford. Members of ArtSpace will exhibit paintings, drawings, prints and digital prints.
Drop in and see what ArtSpace is doing and talk to the artists about their work.
Light refreshments will be available.
'Clear View Open Studio'
Three ArtSpace members will be opening their Quorn studio to the public over the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd, providing a unique opportunity to see inside a real working artist’s studio. Nita Rao, Jo Sheppard and Tony Thory are holding the event at their studio on the Clearview Business Park, Loughborough Road (next to Loughborough Road Nurseries).
'The
Bigger Picture'.
ArtSpace shows the quality and breadth of contemporary
art being produced right now in this area with their new show 'The Bigger Picture'.
See it at Charnwood Museum, Loughborough, in June and July. 17 members
of the group including painters, printmakers, sculptors, photographers
and digital artists will exhibit from 20th June to 6th July.
ARTSPACE
AND THE ART OF GARDENING.
ArtSpace held their second Contemporary Art Fair in
the Church Rooms over the weekend of 21st and 22nd June. Held in conjunction
with the Quorn Open Gardens event, numerous ArtSpace members and some
non-members exhibited an array of original paintings, prints, photographs,
drawings, cards and some limited edition prints.
‘ArtSpace
in Miniature’ - the 9th show at the Charnwood Museum, Loughborough
- 13th March to 20th April. ‘ArtSpace
in Miniature’ provided a new challenge for the 14 artists, including
painters, printmakers, sculptors, photographers and ceramicists, taking
part in this stimulating exhibition. Familiar with working on a far
larger scale, the artists presented their ideas under strict size
limitations, with no work being larger than A5. In some cases, the
restricted dimensions encouraged experimentation and there is evidence
of new personal avenues being explored, resulting in an original,
stimulating and diverse collection of works.
Latest
ArtSpace exhibition, NEW HORIZONS, voted 'BEST EVER' by Mike Jones,
Leicestershire County Council Chairman.
New Horizons
is an ongoing collaboration with Loughborough University - contemporary
artwork by ArtSpace hung in a new university venue, the James France
Building. The exhibition is open to the public and runs from Mon
8 October to 2 November, access via main university entrance on
epinal way.
Contemporary

during the Quorn Open Gardens weekend of Sat 16 & Sun 17 June.

100's of original artworks by local artists and proved to be 'an
eye-opener' for many.
Working
to the brief ‘Two by Two’, 27 Loughbrough ArtSpace artists
produced another varied exhibition of high quality contemporary artwork.
The show included paintings, prints, experimental photography, digital
abstractions, ceramics and video.
Another
Inspiring Exhibition Concludes 2006 for ArtSpace Members ...
2006
drew to a close with another city centre show by Artspace - a diverse
group of ArtSpace members exhibited recent works at the prestigious
City Gallery in Liecester during December. Press reviews and public
feedback again reflect the high standard of the exhibition and place
ArtSpace as one of the leading contemporary art groups in the Midlands.
Woodhouse
Eaves ART FAIR a great success !
Artspace
held their first ART FAIR over the weekend of 11 & 12 November.
With sales reaching four figures it is hoped to make the fair an annual
event. It was a great chance for the public to save by buying direct
from a broad range of artists. This years fair featured works from
ArtSpace members, but ArtSpace hope to open this event to non-members
as well next year. Watch this space ...
The most important initiatives
and the most fruitful collaborations often arise from an everyday
situation. This was the case with this challenging and rewarding
cultural exchange project which culminated this summer with an outstanding
exhibition by the Italian artists in the generator gallery at Loughborough
University. Click the heading to visit the exhibition on-line.
